2.9 Coming Along

Our 2.9 release, which will allow us to run on both Windows CE handheld and fixed terminals, is coming along nicely. At this point we have about 70% of the code completed but not tested. We have had some opportunities come up in the past month that have slowed down our development, but only by about 2 weeks.

Our current plan is to have 2.9 in n existing site for Alpha testing in mid January. Due to the massive number of lines of code changed (about 55,000), we expect there to be some issues and hence we are going to have a longer testing and debugging time frame than normal. We expect to have a CE version scaled down for handhelds and the overall core stable early February.

Most of our customers will skip 2.9 versions of software and opt for 3.0 in 2nd quarter of 2010. 3.0 will be re-certified PASS compliant, have onePOS loyalty, and a new taxing engine to support various state and international taxing schemes.
