Finally we have the bulk of the 2.9 coding done (everything except KDS and Gift Cards pretty much) and while that is going through QA I have started to work on the CE Handheld Version.
I have to admit, it is pretty cool stuff seeing the same exact code run on a handheld unmodified. Of course we are having to add some screen scaling and transitions here and there as needed, and might even allow for an alternate screen layout for menu items on the handhelds for ordering efficiency (this will be optional as to keep the required setup low).
There will be a few high memory usage (well high for a handheld) features that we will not be able to add in such as:
No Customer Lookup / Delivery
No Itemized Flash Readings
There are also a few things that handhelds cannot do, such as:
Scale Interface
Finger Print Interface
Pole Display Interface
Cash Drawer Interface
Caller ID Interface
Run Other Programs
Pull Up a Map
OPOS Hardware
Look for the terminal Alpha release at the end of the week for those people that requested it... and hopefully the handheld Alpha release around Friday the 19th.
