Harmony is a somewhat unique solution in that it is designed primarily for independent, full service restaurants. Most Kitchen Video Systems were designed for Quick Service Restaurants and then rigged to work OK in a Full Service Restaurant. Harmony has features like cook times, multiple monitor routing, expo complete ticket view, multiple item statuses, upcoming item preview, automatic course timing, and print on full ready or final bump as standard, day 1 features.
Some of the other unique features of Harmony are:
- 100% Graphical Ticket Display with On-Screen Chits
- Runs as an Appliance, Completely Independent of the POS
- Each Controller can run 2 Displays and 2 Bump Pads
- Support for Large and/or Wide Screen Monitors
- Switch from Printers to KDS in About an Hour (not including hardware mounting)
- Can Share a Kitchen Ethernet Printer, Allows onePOS to Print Jobs to Same Printer as Harmony For Redundancy
The setup in onePOS is just a bit more involved than setting up standard remote printers, primarily because cook times have to be entered for each item (on the Menu Item Setup page). The same method of setting routings to various kitchen printers is used to target various kitchen displays... in fact you can easily switch back and forth between printers and video at a site.
The way that jobs flow through the kitchen at various stations is really cool and the graphical representation of the jobs on screen makes the learning to use the system almost "obvious." I made a small demo of a harmony job going through the system here:
The ability to run 2 displays off one controller, minimal software costs, easy configuration, fast training, targeted features for a full service kitchen, and minimal support issues make Harmony a solution that you can realistically sell to almost every account.
