Hourly Laptop Backups

How many times have you forgotten to backup a database you were working on? How many times have you started making changes and then, 1/2 way into it, wish you could have rolled back to earlier because you just did not like the way it was working out? How many times (hopefully only once) have you panicked because you deleted a bunch of items and did not compact database and then your new changes were wacky? How many times have you overwritten a database you are working on with a database you are supporting?

I have done most of these, and it really stinks... so we now with 3.1 have an hourly laptop backup.

With this new feature, at the top of every hour, when the Manager Console is running, an email will automatically be sent to the tech email address with the current database all zipped up. The tech can delete the emails when they are no longer needed, but if for some reason they are, there is an hourly snapshot for rollback capabilities.

Setting this up is a snap, start RegEdit on your laptop. Navigate to Local Machine, Software, onePOS, and add a new String value called HourlyEMailAddress. Put in your email address in the string data and you are all set. By not having it be part of the database, any database you put on the machine will be automatically backed up.

If every tech does not set this up on their laptop today and start using 3.1 to build databases they are nuts!
